Aam Sutra

Image
Hello again. Not in a very blog-y mood tonight. I did however bake a delicious batch of one of my cupcakes for sale yesterday!!  They are called 'Aam Sutra' due to the presence of "Mangoes" (Aam) and the Indian "Connection" (Sutra) of Saffron and Rose Water in these cupcakes. The cupcakes batter had all the usual ingredient plus a generous dash of rose water and a pinch of saffron threads.  The saffron is what gave the batter the lovely golden shade. The whole house smelled so divine as they came out of the oven!! The cupcakes were moist, buttery and hit you in the face with it's Indian-ness!! The frosting on the cupcakes was made with ripe mangoes and fresh cream cheese. It was light and healthy and sort of tasted like Mango Cheesecake!!  Yum!! ^_^

The name is Bond. Ruskin Bond.

Hello everyone!! End semester examinations kept me away. But now I am back!! Not only on this blog, but also back home!! Kolkata. :) Though I am extremely happy to be back, but right now "Home is where the 'Heat' is." temperatures are soaring to an astonishing 42*C and the humidity might as well be 100%!!! Be it funny children's stories or stories that touch the heart and tug at the conscience in a most mature manner, be it eerie ghost stories or strange tales of love, Ruskin Bond catered to my every reading need as a c

Birthday Girl Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn  was born 85 years ago on  4th May 1929. Today. Many may say she was a beauty who lived and contributed before my time. That the splendor of her acting was experienced by their generation, not mine. All true. She passed away even before I was thought of. But those big eyes, thick eyebrows, elfin ears and kind smile, coupled with her feminine grace makes her one of the most beautiful women in my mind. And such beauty is timeless. The first Hepburn movie I ever watched was 'My Fair Lady'. I was 11 and I found her funny and oh so engaging!! The magic continued with 'Roman Holiday' and 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' as I kept losing my heart to her charm and beauty all through my senior school. In this post I would like to dedicate a recipe to Ms Hepburn. Two of her favourite foods were Granny Smith Apples ans Swiss Chocolate. The following recipe uses both as main ingredients. You may substitute with any crisp apple and bittersweet chocolate ho
